How Daily Red Pokemon works

Each date brings a different starting team. Inspect your six Pokémon, arrange your party, and make the most of an unfamiliar lineup. The next team arrives at your local midnight.

A familiar battle

Red's team stays fixed. Moves, abilities and held items follow Gen III rules. There are no bag items and no free switch after an opponent faints. Learn the controls.

Pikachu FireRed front spritePikachuElectric

Light Ball · Level 100

  • Volt Tackle
  • Thunderbolt
  • Iron Tail
  • Quick Attack

A fast opening threat. Ground types avoid its Electric attacks, but still need to account for Iron Tail and Quick Attack.

Espeon FireRed front spriteEspeonPsychic

Twisted Spoon · Level 100

  • Psychic
  • Shadow Ball
  • Calm Mind
  • Morning Sun

Calm Mind can make it harder to handle the longer it stays in. Its Shadow Ball uses physical Attack under Gen III rules.

Snorlax FireRed front spriteSnorlaxNormal

Leftovers · Level 100

  • Body Slam
  • Earthquake
  • Shadow Ball
  • Rest

A bulky opponent that can recover with Rest. Body Slam may paralyze; a Normal resistance alone will not stop Earthquake.

Venusaur FireRed front spriteVenusaurGrass / Poison

Miracle Seed · Level 100

  • Giga Drain
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Sleep Powder
  • Leech Seed

Sleep Powder and Leech Seed can disrupt a simple damage race. Consider status and recovery as well as type advantage.

Charizard FireRed front spriteCharizardFire / Flying

Charcoal · Level 100

  • Flamethrower
  • Dragon Claw
  • Earthquake
  • Aerial Ace

Rock attacks hit both of its types. Check whether your attacker survives its coverage moves before making the switch.

Blastoise FireRed front spriteBlastoiseWater

Mystic Water · Level 100

  • Surf
  • Ice Beam
  • Earthquake
  • Hydro Cannon

Ice Beam threatens Grass Pokémon and Earthquake can punish Electric types. Hydro Cannon requires a recharge after a hit.

You do get to pick your next move.

Daily Red Pokemon turns a familiar final battle into a small daily ritual. An awkward moveset can become an unexpected answer. A well-timed switch can buy another turn. Work with today's team, then come back for a fresh challenge.

Before your
first battle.

Daily Red Pokemon questions, answered for this original-engine version.

What is Daily Red Pokemon?

A daily six-on-six battle built on the original FireRed engine. You receive a seeded team of level-100 Pokémon from Generations I–III and use that team to challenge Red. It is a battle game, rather than a Pokémon-name guessing puzzle.

How do I check my team and choose a lead?

Select Reveal today’s team, then open any Pokémon card to see its exact moves, nature, ability, held item and stats. Choose Set as lead before the battle. You can also inspect and reorder your party in the original game menu.

What happens if I refresh during a battle?

Once the battle begins, your daily attempt is committed. Refreshing or closing the page before finishing is recorded as a loss the next time you open the site. Looking around before the battle does not use your attempt.

When does a new challenge become available?

At midnight in your device’s local time zone. Players on the same local calendar date receive the same starting team. A missed calendar day ends your current win and play streaks; lifetime wins and losses remain.

Can I practice after playing today?

Yes. The Practice link opens today’s starting seed outside the recorded daily mode. Practice does not change wins, losses or streaks. Later practice battles generate new teams, so only the first team matches the initial seed.

Which battle rules does this version use?

FireRed’s Gen III rules: physical and special damage depend on move type, battle style is SET, and no bag items are available. Held items and abilities still apply. There is no Fairy type or modern per-move physical/special split.

Where is my progress saved?

Daily results and streaks are stored in this browser. They are not synced between devices. Clearing site data removes them. If browser storage is blocked, the record may last only for the current session.

Can I play on a phone?

Use the direction pad, A/B and Start/Select buttons below the game. Start opens the party menu, A confirms and B goes back. On desktop, use the keyboard controls. Sound may need a click or key press after the game loads.

Red will be waiting.

All Pokémon are level 100. Damaging move category follows its type: Normal, Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Ghost and Steel are physical. Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Dragon and Dark are special.

Battle style is SET. Switching uses a turn; you get no free switch after an opponent faints. Bag items are unavailable. Held items, abilities and status moves work under FireRed rules.

There is no Fairy type. Hidden Power and Weather Ball can change type and category in battle.

The team resets at midnight in your device’s local time zone. Your attempt is committed when the battle starts.

Refreshing or closing during the battle counts as a loss. This original-engine edition does not resume a battle after reload. Opening these information panels pauses it safely.

Results and streaks stay in this browser. Clearing site data removes them; blocked storage limits records to this page session. One daily game can run at a time across tabs. Practice does not change your record.
