Red's Team

Red brings a fixed lineup of six level-100 Pokémon. These moves and items come from this game's configuration, rather than a claim about every appearance of Red across Pokémon games.

Read the complete set before choosing a counter. An Electric weakness does not mean a Water Pokémon lacks an answer to your Electric attacker. Likewise, a resistance to one move may leave you exposed to another.

Pikachu FireRed front sprite

Pikachu

Electric · Level 100 · Light Ball

  • Volt Tackle
  • Thunderbolt
  • Iron Tail
  • Quick Attack

A fast opening threat. Ground types avoid its Electric attacks, but still need to account for Iron Tail and Quick Attack.

Espeon FireRed front sprite

Espeon

Psychic · Level 100 · Twisted Spoon

  • Psychic
  • Shadow Ball
  • Calm Mind
  • Morning Sun

Calm Mind can make it harder to handle the longer it stays in. Its Shadow Ball uses physical Attack under Gen III rules.

Snorlax FireRed front sprite

Snorlax

Normal · Level 100 · Leftovers

  • Body Slam
  • Earthquake
  • Shadow Ball
  • Rest

A bulky opponent that can recover with Rest. Body Slam may paralyze; a Normal resistance alone will not stop Earthquake.

Venusaur FireRed front sprite

Venusaur

Grass / Poison · Level 100 · Miracle Seed

  • Giga Drain
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Sleep Powder
  • Leech Seed

Sleep Powder and Leech Seed can disrupt a simple damage race. Consider status and recovery as well as type advantage.

Charizard FireRed front sprite

Charizard

Fire / Flying · Level 100 · Charcoal

  • Flamethrower
  • Dragon Claw
  • Earthquake
  • Aerial Ace

Rock attacks hit both of its types. Check whether your attacker survives its coverage moves before making the switch.

Blastoise FireRed front sprite

Blastoise

Water · Level 100 · Mystic Water

  • Surf
  • Ice Beam
  • Earthquake
  • Hydro Cannon

Ice Beam threatens Grass Pokémon and Earthquake can punish Electric types. Hydro Cannon requires a recharge after a hit.

Plan around your actual team

There is no single sequence that wins every daily lineup. Check move coverage, speed, useful resistances and status options before choosing your lead. Switching can protect a useful teammate, but it costs a turn. These are preparation ideas, not a guaranteed solution.

The opponent uses FireRed's trainer AI. The configured party starts with Pikachu; battle decisions, fainting and switches determine what you face next. Full moves, items and EV spreads are defined in the original project's patch.
