How to Play Daily Red Pokemon

A short climb, six Pokémon, and decisions that count. Prepare before you speak to Red: opening the game alone does not use your daily attempt.

Get to know today's team

Select Reveal today’s team in the game area. Open a Pokémon card for its moves, nature, ability, held item, stats, IVs and EVs. Set as lead swaps that Pokémon into the first slot in the actual game. This works before battle while you are on the field. The original POKéMON menu also supports SUMMARY and SWITCH.

Check more than type advantage. A Pokémon may have useful status moves, unexpected coverage, or an item that changes how you want to use it. The randomly selected moves are not guaranteed to make an ideal competitive set.

Climb and start the battle

Use the arrow keys to walk up the steps. Stand next to Red and press X to talk. Your attempt is committed when the battle begins. Defeat all six of his Pokémon to record a win.

A refresh or closed page during the recorded battle becomes a loss when you return. There is no resumable daily save in this version. Before the battle begins, you can reload and inspect the same starting team.

The battle rules worth knowing

The game uses FireRed's Gen III battle engine. Move type determines whether a damaging move is physical or special. For example, Ghost and Poison attacks are physical; Dark and Dragon attacks are special. A move's later-generation classification does not apply here.

Battle style is SET. You are not offered a free switch when Red sends out a replacement. Switching uses your turn. Bag items are unavailable, while held items and abilities still take effect.

Daily results and practice

The day changes at midnight in the time zone set on your device. On the same local date, the initial daily lineup is the same for players of this version. Your wins, losses, win streak and day streak stay in this browser.

Practice starts with the selected date seed and does not update your daily record. In practice, the next battle after a result brings another generated team. Return to Daily challenge for your recorded attempt.

If the game does not load

Check your connection and use Try again. The first start downloads the game and emulator; later runs in the same visit reuse the loaded files. Use a current browser with WebAssembly and DecompressionStream support. Clearing browser data also clears your battle record, so it should not be your first troubleshooting step.
